My Favorite Mocktail Books That I Use To Make Non-Alcoholic Italian Drinks

Last updated on November 1st, 2024

I love drinking mocktails just as much as I love classic cocktails. And being an expat in Italy, I particularly am fond of non-alcoholic Italian inspired drinks.

Making mocktails that taste good can be challenging if you are new to the game. Let me help! Because I love mocktails so much, I never miss an opportunity to try new recipes or open a new mocktail book.

In this article, I will share with you my favorite mocktail books that I use to make non-alcoholic drinks (I tend towards Italian inspired ones but these books cover much more than that!). All of these books are ones that I own and come back to time in again.

The Mocktail Club

Best: Beautiful and functional mocktail book

“The Mocktail Club” is my newest addition to my cookbook and drink book collection. This beautifully photographed mocktail book will have you drooling page after page. Erick Santiago takes you through 75 different mocktails to make at home, ranging from spins on the classics to more creative and innovative ideas.

What I enjoy best about this book is the use of fresh, seasonal ingredients, making it easy to pick a mocktail to make based on the season and what is available to you.

Shrubs

Best For: People who like mocktails and cocktails

“Shrubs” isn’t a mocktail specific book but rather, an instruction manual outlining how to make the ever more popular base for some many non-alcoholic Italian drinks. A shrub is a preserved sweet and tangy flavoring made by macerating fruit with vinegar and sugar, which can then be used as a base to create several alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages.

In this book, Michael Dietsch takes you through his technique to create a shrub with any seasonal fruit you have. He explains in detail how to store it, how to use it and what cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages or mocktails he suggests for each. Easy to use, this manual has changed the way I drink non-alcoholic beverages.

Mocktail Party

Best For: Newbie Mocktail drinkers

“Mocktail Party” has fast become a favorite mocktail book of mine as it first helped me to understand how to make non-alcoholic Italian beverages with a low sugar content and with all natural ingredients (just as the authors intended!).

I recommend “Mocktail Party” for folks who are new to the mocktail scene and have perhaps only recently made a lifestyle change to reduce their alcohol consumption. The authors talk about the benefits of an alcohol-free lifestyle, including advice for ordering mocktails at a restaurant or bar.
