The Amalfi Coast has so much to offer in terms of landscape, culture, heritage and food. Speaking of the latter, if you’re planning a visit, be sure to leave space in your luggage for these food items that will remind you of your Amalfi Coast travels.

Let’s take a look at my favorite food souvenirs and gifts to bring back from the Amalfi Coast – for all budgets. These are items I personally like to always have in my bag when I return from Campania

They can be used in cooking, daily food prep or enjoyed with meals… reminding you of your time spent on the stunning Amalfi Coast!

Where To Buy Food Souvenirs In The Amalfi Coast

Look for food souvenirs at the following stores on The Amalfi Coast:

  • Enoteca – wine shop
  • Supermercatigrocery stores
  • Mercato open air markets
  • Pizzicheria – deli
  • Alimentare – small mom and pop food stores

My Favorite Food Souvenirs From The Amalfi Coast

These food souvenirs and gifts from the Amalfi Coast speak to the rich culinary traditions of this southern Italian region. Whether you are shopping for yourself, a friend or a loved one, there is something that is sure to satisfy your needs!

Anchovies

View of a jar of anchovies in oil on a white marble surface.

You can find great canned anchovies all over Italy but the absolute best come from the small town of Cetara on the Amalfi Coast.

Use Them: My absolute favorite way to use anchovies is in White Chicken Cacciatore and in Italian Salsa Verde.

Colatura di Alici

Colatura di alici is a thick anchovy sauce made from fermented anchovies. It’s an important ingredient for cooking traditional regional dishes including appetizers, pasta dishes and adding flavor to simple seafood dishes.

Lemon Marmalade

Lemon marmalades are a great way to savor the famous citrus from the Amalfi Coast after your trip. Look for it in jars or in painted ceramic jars, which you can reuse later.

If you don’t like marmalade, look for lemons that are preserved in other ways such as canned, packed in olive oil or pickled.

Canned Tuna in Olive Oil

Aisle at a grocery store in Italy that's full of canned and jarred Italian tuna.

The Amalfi Coast has excellent canned tuna packed in olive oil. This is a staple in an Italian kitchen, making it one of the best and most useful souvenirs to bring back from the Amalfi Coast. Use it on salads and in pasta dishes.

Wine

The Amalfi Coast produces several different wines, most famously Furore and Ravello DOC. A bottle of local wine is a wonderful way to relieve an aperitivo or evening you had on Capri or at a waterfront restaurant.

Tip: Be sure to pack your wine in travel wine bags or bubble wrap to reduce the risk of breakage in your luggage.

Limoncello

If you have been on the Amalfi coast then you probably tasted some of the best limoncello digestif in the whole world! Bringing a bottle of limoncello home is probably the most iconic food souvenir you can choose.

The Amalfi Coast is famous for its lemon production, specifically the Sfusato di Amalfi, Ovale di Sorrento and the Femminiello di Capri. Most restaurants will offer you a taste after your meal.

Use It: Check out how to drink limoncello in a favorite cocktail of mine, the Limoncello Spritz.

Pasta di Gragnano

Pasta from the small hilltop town of Gragnano is an IGP dried bronze cut pasta made from local grano duro and water. You can buy several different varieties including:

  • scialatielli
  • candele
  • paccheri

Keep in mind that you cannot bring fresh pasta home with you from Italy to most other countries. Always buy dried varieties which are also pretty light, making them easy to pack for travelers with already heavy bags.

Making Pasta At Home: Be sure you are cooking your pasta al dente, according to Italian law with my guide to How To Cook Pasta Like an Italian.
