You’ve wined and dined your way through Florence. And, you’ve just spent all day exploring the city – visiting David at the Accademia, walking across the Ponte Vecchio, eating delicious gelato, and climbing up to Piazzale Michelangelo. It’s dinnertime – are you ready for another restaurant meal?
Perhaps your time in Florence is short and you don’t feel like spending it sitting down at a restaurant.
Either way – I’ve got the answer for you – takeout!
Grab some delicious grub (or order in!) and enjoy your meal at your accommodation or have a picnic in one of Florence’s parks or gardens.
Whether you are in Florence as student, short-term traveler, teacher, digital nomad or as a long term traveler, you may be looking for some takeout in Florence.
I’ve been enjoying Florence’s food (restaurants and takeout) since 2010. In this guide, I’ll share:
- my favorite Florence restaurants to order takeout from
- their specialties
- whether or not they deliver
- the various delivery services you can use in Florence to have food delivered and which restaurants they work with that I recommend*
*Note that the best places in Florence for takeaway don’t usually work with delivery services. The options for delivery via a third party food service isn’t great – more on that below.

Delivery Services In Florence
Florence has four main food delivery services working with a large number of restaurants, fast food and bars in the city. These services deliver even beyond the city walls of downtown Florence.
Glovo and Deliveroo are the two most popular and widespread delivery services in Florence with Uber Eats and Just Eat as runner ups.
These food services do not work with the best restaurants to get takeout from in Florence. Rather, they tend to work with international restaurants, fast food joints and cheaper options.
The following restaurants and food options are the better choices if you want to have your food delivered from one of the food delivery services:
- Sgrano – best for gluten-free food
- Eataly – best for general Italian food
- Mister pizza – best for gluten-free and vegan pizza
- Schiacciamatta – best for schiacciata sandwiches
- Shake – best for American style food
- Risotteria Melotti – best for gluten-free + risotto
- Pugi – best for baked goods, schiacciata and focaccia
- Base V Juicery – best for healthier/greener food options + cold pressed juices
- La Bussola – best for pizza
- Obicà – best for mozzarella lovers
- Amblé – best for healthier/greener food options

Gurdulù Gastronomia
Via delle Caldaie, 12 R
Gurdulù is a gourmet deli located behind Piazza Santo Spirito with an excellent deli counter filled with delicious Italian food ready to bring home and re-heat. Typical dishes are meatballs, gnocchi, stuffed pastas, roasted pork and various vegetables + daily specials.
They also have a small but well curated section of artisan food products (great for souvenirs and gifts) but also packed with basics to create an easy meal at home.
Either come in person to choose your takeout or call (everyday except Wednesday) to have your food prepared for when you come and pick it up.
Good To Know: Gurdulù does take a typical Italian siesta after lunch and closes from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Melaleuca Bakery + Bistrot
Lungarno delle Grazie, 18
Melaleuca Bakery + Bistrot is my top pick for ordering takeout for breakfast items or brunch. Choose from either traditional Italian breakfast items or opt for a more international / American breakfast and brunch menu including items such as eggs benedict, fish tacos, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, etc.
Good To Know: Melaleuca is also one of my top places to get brunch and drink coffee in Florence.
L’Angolo del Mare
Viale Edmondo de Amicis, 1
L’Angolo del Mare is my favorite spot in Florence to get fish takeout because they have a specific menu designed for takeaway with dishes that hold up well to travel.
They specifically avoid first courses like pasta with shellfish that will arrive as an overcooked mess but stick to grilled fish plates and appetizers. This has always been a sure sign in my experience of good quality and dependability.
They are not located in the city center, making them one of the more inconvenient restaurants for takeout in Florence. I recommend L’Angolo del Mare for folks visiting with other Italians or who are staying on the outskirts with access to a car.
Cibrèo & Cibleo
Via Andrea del Verrocchio, 8r,
Cibrèo, one of the finest restaurants in Florence, has a one of a kind formula for takeout in Florence. Choose from one of their three set price multiple course takeout meal options for pickup.
Starting at €25 per person, choose from a four course meal including foods such as polenta with meat sauce, chicken meatballs, potatoes and chocolate cake. They also have a €35 and €45 per person menu. Its sister restaurant, Ciblèo, offering an Asian twist and specializing in dumplings, also has set menus for takeout.
Da Rocco
Piazza Lorenzo Ghiberti
Da Rocco is the best bargain in town for takeout if you are craving traditional Florentine cuisine. The only catch is that they are only open for lunch so be sure to pick up your food to enjoy later at dinner.
Da Rocco has a wide selection of first and second courses, sides and desserts, all of which can be ordered at the counter and wrapped up in a second.
Gusta Pizza
Via Maggio, 46r
Gusta Pizza is my favorite pizzeria in Florence to get takeout pizza and enjoy at home. Of course, you can really do this at any pizzeria in Florence but what I like about Gusta Pizza is that because the pizza is Neapolitan style (thick, puffy crust), it holds up better than other pizza with a thinner crust.
Either call in your pizza or order in person. The only drawback to ordering in person is that you may have to wait a while in line just to get your order in. Calling it in avoids this. They speak English.
Brac
Via dei Vagellai, 18/R
Brac is my favorite place to order takeout in Florence for vegetarian and vegan dishes. Made to order, Brac offers a specific takeout menu with plant-based dishes made to withhold takeout. They have large salads, quiches and lasagne, just to name a few of their items that pack up well.

Santo Falafel
Via Sant’Agostino, 28r
Santo Falafel is a Middle Eastern casual eatery in the Santo Spirito neighborhood offering a wide selection of wraps, falafel, spreads and vegan and vegetarian food items for both dining in and takeaway.
All their food, whether you decide to eat it there or take it to go, is packaged in cardboard bowls and boxes. And unlike most of my favorite places to get takeout in Florence, Santo Falafel works with both Deliveroo and Glovo.
Trattoria 4 Leoni
Via dei Vellutini, 1r
Trattoria 4 Leoni is one of the only restaurants in Florence that has its own delivery service and easy to order formula online. Visit their website to choose from their takeaway menu (menù asporto), choose what items you like, add them to your cart and choose a delivery time. Ecco fatto, easy as pie. Your food is on its way.
They have a wide selection of traditional Tuscan dishes including items like eggplant parmesan, beef stew, steak, potatoes, ribollita, pappa al pomodoro, sauteed vegetables and a ton of other sides and desserts to choose from.
Berbère
Via dei Benci, 7 (Santa Croce) and Piazza dei Nerli, 1 (San Frediano)
Berbère pizzeria is my favorite sourdough pizza in Florence and is one of the only reliable pizzerias that works with a delivery service. When you order online with Deliveroo you won’t have access to their full menu but rather, a selection of pizzas but when you just can’t hack picking it up, this is the best option for you.
Dim Sum Time
Via dei Neri, 37/rosso
Dim Sum is a casual dim sum hole in the wall in Via dei Neri, one of the busiest streets in Florence behind the Uffizi. It can get quite busy on the weekends and with only 8 small tables, takeout is always a sure option. You can choose from their wide selection of dumplings (steamed or pan friend) and rice and noodle bowls. It’s very cheap and excellent quality, including vegetarian and tofu options.
